	Twice a week or less but for over 5 hours each time they are worn..
	The best method is daily disposable. They are extremely comfortable and no cleaning or soaking solutions are needed. They are worn just for the one occasion and then discarded. 	However well you look after soft lenses, they become deposited with protein and calcium from tears, and normal everyday grime. The deposits affect the efficacy of the lenses and this could ultimately cause damage to the front of the eyes, and so for people who regularly wear soft lenses, frequent replacement is the answer. MKO run several replacement schemes. The most popular are: (a) Lenses replaced every fortnight. For costs - view prices. A free trial is available with these lenses which are extremely comfortable. Lenses and solutions are collected every 6 months. (b) Lenses replaced every month. These are called Switch Premium. For costs - view prices. A free trial is available with these lenses. Lenses and solutions are collected every 6 months. Both schemes include solutions, an annual eye examination and contact lens check, plus a quick lens check during the year if necessary. They also allow 20% discount off spectacles and 15% off designer name sunspecs. Frequent replacement means that fresh lenses are always being worn with less chance of deposit build up and subsequent eye problems.

	Two or three times a week and only a few hours each time (e.g. social use)..
	- Quite a choice now: (a) Daily Disposables as described above (b) Purchase of 6 pairs of monthly disposables called Switch forview prices. Each pair is worn 30 times and then discarded – so if worn 3 times each week, 6 months supply will last a year. This is a “no frills” option; there is no Free trial, solutions and check-ups cost extra. This is the recommended option for this regime.

Constant Wear..

These are lenses that you can wear all the time, i.e. 24 hours per day, for a month and then discard. They allow more oxygen through than even Daily Disposable lenses. They are now available for long-sightedness & short-sightedness, and if you are considering Laser refractive surgery but are not too sure of the risks and want something reversible, then these are the lenses to try. Acuvue Bifocal lenses are available from Johnson & Johnson, originators of the daily disposable contact lens. They are a fortnightly disposable lens. If you wear them regularly you change them every 2 weeks; if you only wear them occasionally you throw them away after having worn them 14 times.

They are extremely comfortable and easy to handle. They have what Johnson & Johnson call a Pupil Intelligent Design. The lenses have concentric areas of distance and reading powers alternating from the centre of the lens outward. This means that you should be able to see under any lighting conditions. The advantages over conventional bifocal or varifocal spectacles are that you can see far and near in any direction of gaze.

It can take several days to get used to Acuvue Bifocal lenses and for this reason we offer a "free" trial. You pay for the initial examination and then are given a pair of lenses to try for a week or so. If a small adjustment to the power is required another lens or pair of lenses can be tried at no extra cost.

Hard/Gas Permeable Bifocal Contact Lenses

These tend to be more successful than the soft bifocal lenses; especially if you've worn hard lenses before. Our suppliers will credit us if they cannot be successfully fitted and so we will refund you the cost of these lenses if you are not entirely satisfied.
