About MKO

Martyn Kemp Opticians (MKO) was founded in 1973 by Martyn Kemp, and has several practices across South Yorkshire. Over the past 40+ years the group has established itself as a leading optician, and has over 100,000 patients across its practices.

MKO has an excellent reputation in providing excellent eye care with the latest equipment in Optometry. In addition to the high quality eye examinations, MKO offers patients a fantastic range of quality eyewear and a wide variety of lens options.

All our staff undergo regular training to ensure that the service provided to you at any MKO branch is of the highest standard. This is reflected in our staff retention – with the average length of employment being over 15 years. Our optometrists are highly qualified and see on average 12 patients a day. This ensures that no patient is rushed and the optometrists have enough time to do any extra tests where necessary, and explain the results.

Several of our optometrists have undergone extra training, which sees them receive patients referred by GPs and fellow optometrists, to conduct extra tests before referring a patient to the hospital eye service.
